Our Mission

We are devoted to understanding the solid-state microstructure of conjugated polymer thin films and how this is connected with their electronic properties. Particular emphasis is on the study of glassy phases. We are also interested in the fundamental physical processes by which microstructure is developed in organic semiconductors, namely crystallization, glass transition, solid-solid transitions and liquid-crystalline transitions. Our key experimental techniques include fast scanning calorimetry, X-ray scattering, and optical microscopies and spectroscopies.

Well-Being Statement

At Jaime Martín´s Lab, we are committed to providing a mentally healthy work environment. Regardless of personal circumstances, work-life balance of our researchers is respected – we are convinced that PhD students and postdocs should not be overworked and overstressed. Creativity, autonomy and teamwork are fostered, and EFFORT is used to measure performance beyond “good results”. We firmly believe that “Being a PhD student (or postdoc) shouldn’t be bad for your health” (Nature 575, 403-406 (2019))
